Tableau Application Developer (Temporary/Contract)

Tableau Application Developer

This position is responsible for coordination and management of applications development, specifically related to Tableau, in conjunction with the design, development, and maintenance of custom applications. Using visualization expertise, this individual will design and implement visual reporting platforms in Tableau and CRM system.


    • Develop and deploy complex SQL Server Reporting Services and Tableau applications
    • Work with data owners to understand source data and how to integrate into Tableau design
    • Project coordinator for Tableau-based development outlined under contracts  
    • Coordinate and communicate with end users, clients and OFMQ staff for design and implementation of applications
    • Coordinate with OFMQ data analytics department to develop project plans and timelines
    • Design, develop, test, and deploy solutions using Tableau dashboards
    • Research source data and design solutions that provide high performance visuals in Tableau
    • Develop documentation of coding standards, training, and support
    • Participate in defining best practices around report development, testing, access management, and report refresh scheduling
    • Research, design, and write new software applications
    • Formulate plan outlining steps required to develop application, using structured analysis and design
    • Provides support and training to application users
    • Develop database application and manage database code pertaining to developed applications
    • Install and maintain software applications
    • Develop and provide support for contract applications
    • Provide recommended solutions and upgrades to applications design
    • Develop formalized processes for applications development
    • Test and analyze application code
    • Create software design documentation
    • Create software requirements documentation
    • Research and analyze new processes and technologies
    • Create technical documentation and test plans
    • Create operational documentation

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
  • Experience designing, developing and implementing Tableau applications
  • Experience in data visualization and design
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple departments and individuals
  • Knowledge and understanding of software engineering practices
  • Understanding of .Net languages including: C#, VB, ASP .Net
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database systems such including: SQL Server, and Oracle
  • Prior experience working with technologies including: XML, XSL, SQL, AJAX
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in applications design and development;
  • Experience in requirements gathering and product design
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze applications and database code
  • Prior experience in orientation and training of applications users
  • Highly developed verbal and written communications.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and e-mail.


  •  Computer Science Degree or Equivalent 4-year degree required
  • Tableau and applications level certifications strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years applications development experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years-experience working with Tableau strongly preferred


This position will be initially payrolled/contracted through a staffing agency. Depending on need, this position may be contract-to-hire. Expected duration of temporary assigment is 6 months.
